A fourth-generation Phuket son who never planned to be anything in particular, was called home in 2013, and became whatever the family needed next.

I was born in 1981 in Ku Ku and grew up in Phuket town. I studied computer science at SIIT and AIT, then spent eight years building systems for a bank. I never meant to come home.

In 2013 my grandfather called. Since then I have been whatever the family needed: salesman, finance, IT, cook by necessity, photographer by necessity, speaker by necessity. I am not gifted, so I do more.

A house my great-grandfather built in 1936 had stood empty for over thirty years. My brother and I spent three years restoring it as a gift to our grandfather. The house is 90 this year, so this record has two layers — the house's and mine.

I have worn the same black-and-white clothes every day for seven or eight years, about as long as the restoration took. This site is black and white for the same reason. It is not a style I picked.

Not gifted, so I do more.

Shops under the TOH DAENG name beyond these two are partner locations, in several forms (Premium · Branch · Express) — Satja is neither their manager nor co-founder. He sets the food and service standards that any shop using the TOH DAENG Phuket name must follow, and shares responsibility for the Michelin recognition the name carries.

Systems built

Anything meant to last needs to be built so the next generation can open it and understand it, without me standing there — the 1936 house and the 2026 systems are built on the same principle.
